Panel Discussion: How Crypto is Tested in Europe? Is a Crypto Certification Needed? (A01b)

As we all know, Europe is one of the leading players in the world in terms of cybersecurity certification. Europe has been leading the legislative field in the area of cybersecurity for several years, one of the main reasons for this prevailing position was the creation of the EU Cybersecurity Act (CSA). One of the main goals of the CSA is to provide a European cybersecurity certification framework for ICT products, services and processes in order to benefit companies that want to market their solutions in Europe. However, there is one area of cybersecurity certification where Europe is losing pace, cryptography. Some countries such as Spain are already developing their own national methodology, but there is no harmonization at European level and it is necessary to start creating the debate and reach consensus at European level by harmonizing existing methodologies before creating a European certification. The panel discussion will aim to open the discussion among the relevant stakeholders in the area of cryptography, providing insights from different countries/schemes in the area of cryptography and the need for the creation of a crypto certification at European level.
